Hi all.

Has anyone experience of cleaning exterior walls? Specifically Cotswold stone?

Any tips / advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

All I can say is that I've had a go with a hand wire brush (no effect) followed by a wire mop on an angle grinder......the swirls were completely unnatural!
Soot stains and such like completely penetrate the stone, and can't be shifted.

When you clean any stone or brick you remove the dirt and the protective patina thats built up over the years.

The usual method is to blast the dirt layer off, or some companies claim success with chemical treatments.

Both seem to work but the stone surface is now very vulnerable to pollution staining, and in some cases the stone is more absorbent.
