Cleaning overalls

Is anyone using a specific detergent in the washing machine to get heavy stained overalls reasonably clean?

We had our own washing machine when I had the workshop. Used to use Persil non-bio on a hot wash as well as doing a pre-wash too. Worked for us.

I add a scoop of vanish powder, does help as well as the detergent.

Hotter the wash the better the clean.
30c cool washes take longer and are not good for dirt removal

I had assumed bio was better for cleaning clothes

I use it for moss too so that's partly why I buy it

Bio has bleaching agents for whites.

We use non-bio as bio gives us a rash and makes our skin itch.

I use Tesco non bio on a hot wash. If there's any really oily patches they get a good squirt and rub in of Fairy washing up liquid first.

It is - at low temperatures.
If you want to boil things up, then non-bio is the thing to use.

Sodium percarbonate, which rots certain fabrics away.
Persil sold a version of their powder a few decades ago that included it, Persil Power. Biggest disaster in the history of detergents. It was all recalled, massive losses were incurred.
