What is the recommended method for running electric cables behind kitchen base units? The OSG covers cables sunk into the wall in plenty of detail and safe zones in this respect but not clipped direct.
Reason I ask is we have one wall brick & plaster and the other wall stud & packed with insulation. In order to avoid de-rating the cable too much, the ideal route would be to clip the cables horizontally to the walls behind the base units just above floor level where they can supply unswitched sockets before running vertically to sockets/appliance switches etc above the worktop.

There will be no problem with clipping cables as per your post.
Just remember any sockets, switches, joints behind the unit must be easily accessible.
The de-rating of the cable is this an issue? As you should take worst case scenario when doing your calculation.
If this cable route is already within thermal insulated walls, this must be taken in to account.
