I have some asbestos cement shingles on my roof which are in a very similar condition to those on the right hand side of this photograph :

The roof is fine but I'd like to improve it's appearance. The first step will be to powerwash the roof. After that I'm wondering if there is anything I can coat the shingles with ? - I'd prefer a dark colour appearance.

Many years ago I used an acrylic based roof paint but it all peeled off after a few years. What I'm after is something that has a better chance of adhering properly to cleaned asbestos cement.

Can anyone suggest a suitable product ? Thanks.

Its about time you threw them in the skip and started again, if you can not do the whole roof at once just do one side at a time like for like, much better value for your money.

I can't see any good reason to replace them - The roof is perfectly sound and watertight.

All I want to do is find a suitable coating that I can put on to improve the appearance of the roof. The rest of the house looks quite modern so the faded roof stands out.
