Cohabitation rights.

Also seems like an attack on marriage - why bother any more. Isn’t that a WEF dictate - something about promoting anything that breaks up the idea of a family unit, which is why you end up with dil doh drag queens reading nursery rhymers to pre school children

The frustrating bit is that you have to get your opt out “legally certified”. So that’s two lawyers signing off and charging probably £1k each minimum

Lawyers fees can be a good investment, and their advice could save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

They might have a 'DIY' option, like you have with a will or power of attorney.

It doesn't sound like it can be done without a solicitor.

What do you expect, when our dictator president is a solicitor. All no doubt pretending to be for everyone's own good of course. More money for his mates.

So is this another policy that was never in the manifesto - was never asked for - and can not be blamed on the conservatives - as "they proposed it first" and yet another policy with un intended consequences that everyone except labour forever voters can see.

Just their usual patronising way of ensuring all the stupid people are "protected".

But it will do a lot more harm than good.

I really don't generally approve of the concept of an unelected House of Lords. But at times like this it's good to know that they will definitely pull this apart and point out all the many issues. It shouldn't be necessary, but sadly this government needs a babysitter.

Correct you must get the opt out certificated by a lawyer.

You are free to divorce, buy a house, get married, buy a car, sign an employment contract, get a loan, write a Will, donate an organ all without using lawyer, but this law says you must have a lawyer if you want to opt out.
