A few days ago I ran our central heating for a short while to check it was all working, and replaced the batteries in the digital thermostat (which is now turned off).

The next day when I came home from work the house was unusually warm, but when I checked the rads they were cold and the boiler was cold and set to "Hot water" only, coming home early the next day I found the boiler (a Halstead Combi, i think its ace high model) was running, when checking it, it was still set to Hot water only and the lights on the front showed it was heating water, however none of the taps were open so it seemed the heat was being transferred into the rads instead. I have had to turn the boiler off, and turn it on when I need hot water.

I have tried to search for similar issues online, but cannot find anything. As it has only started after I ran the heating system I wonder if it is related, but don't really know whats going on. Does anyone have any ideas, and if so is it going to cost a fortune (as this boiler has done every other time its gone wrong!).

Thanks for any advice.
