I have a Vaillant VCW BG 282 EH wall mounted combi boiler,recently at night there has been a "knocking" in the boiler at about one second intervals quite loud at first then dying away it starts again after 15-20 mins, i stop it by turning off the cold water supply to the boiler and turning on the hot tap at the sink, have spoken to two C/H plumbers who did not know but would " have a look",hopefully someone here knows the answer, Regards JC.

would have to agree with your engineers and have a look
just cos a plumber says I come around and have a look for you dont mean he/she dont know what they are doing it justs means they need to look at it to make the correct diagnosis.
