Hi Everyone a little help please. I have a Worcester GreenStar 2000 Combi boiler currently controlled by a EPH receiver box. I have bought a Hive mini to replace this system as by all accounts it works with this boiler. However I little confused by how it has been wired, it would seem there is fused switch wire going to the EPH system and then from the EPH to the boiler. I am confused as to why the fused supplier isnt going directly to the boiler and then back to the EPH as it would for the Hive receiver.

So my question is, if I remove the EPH box, can I extend the cable from the fused switch directly to the boiler using Wago's and then wire in the Hive as instructed. I've attached a pic- excuse the cob webs. Green is from EPH to Boiler- Red is fused switch into EPH box

Thank you

There's no reason it has to go to the boiler first, the permanent live will be fused that's what matters.

The boiler power is simply daisy-chained through the EPH, from the fused connection unit.
There is no reason why the Hive receiver can't be wired in exactly the same way.
If you would like to show us the wiring behind the EPH, we may be able to guide you further.

Hi- Thank you. Will do that over the weekend when I can get into the bloody thing. Its not the best placed for access to the retaining screws.

Hi All- As promised the wiring from inside the current EPH- and the new Hive.

Please can you advise on the wiring change required.

Ideally I would like to relocate the control box to the inside of the cupboard- Can i extend the cables using Wago?

Please can you advise on the wiring change required.
The two Brown wires in L of the EPH, would go to L on the Hive backplate.
The two Blues in N to N.
The two Green/Yellow wires must remain connected together - these can be parked in the earth terminal on the Hive.
The Grey wire in terminal 2 (COM) on the EPH would go to terminal 1 on Hive.
The Black wire in terminal 3 (On) on the EPH would go to terminal 3 on Hive.

You could, but you would need to place the wago's in a suitable enclosure; which would mean having two ugly boxes on the wall, instead of just one!

thank you- the enclosure for Wago wouldn't be seen to be fair- its ease of access to relocate the hive to the inside of boiler cupboard rather than the back wall.

Thank you for the advice- thats my job for tomorrow sorted.
