Can you experienced guys give me some guidance please , i have a baxi bahama that has been a nightmare and is on its last legs so i am looking for some pointers so as not to relive the nightmare .

Firstly i would like an in line scalefighter there seems to be the choices of electronic (wrap around wire) type , cold feed inline type and the combimate where you top up the descaleing agent !

Secondly the filters that go on the heating return to the combi i think there called magna clean or whatever are these good if so what brand !

Thirdly if i cleaned each radiator seperatley would this be as good as a flush !!

And last of all what combi ! , i have gleaned that the more you spend the better , but are there ultimate brands anything that gives less trouble than the baxi , many thanks

1 Get a combi mate and forget the others IMO they are rubbish

2 we fit the fernox boiler buddy (only cos its easy to clean) and yes install one

3 NO. what about all the crud in the pipes? what are you going to do about that? Get a machine and do it proper

Many thanks corgiman, i know have a clear vision of where i am at , just one thing which combi boilers would you recommend .

I think your boiler already has a mesh filter in the return, do you clean that often?

The permanent magnet water conditioners do work to an extent but they are unnecessary except in the hardest water areas like Matlock or Buxton.

Your boiler is one of the few that is very sensitive to magnetic particles and a Magnaclean would be a good idea if your system is known to be dirty.

Taking rads off and cleaning them out will help but may not be necessary as if its magnetite its so heavy it may not move much.

Tony (Agile) regarding the mesh in the return to my boiler is this something that could be done by myself , also as i said in my post the bahama is on its way to the boiler graveyard and i would value your guidance as to which combi to go for ! i have made my mind up that it will be 30 kw ish so as to get good hot water flow. cheers

Bahama's were a really naff boiler. No matter what you fit so long as it isnt a glow worm or of French origin should give you less grief
