Just a quick question are they any rules ref, the position of the overflow pipe i have noticed that most pipes at the end are angled towards the wall.Mine points straight down.Sounds silly but with children playing near the pipe.Is it hot or cold water which may leak from the pipe.

Not silly, but exactly right. It should terminate in a safe / easily accessible position. Unless its within 150mm of ground level then it should be facing back into the wall.

Thankyou for the reply. The pipe is about 8 foot from floor level,so i guess it would be quite a spray of water if ther was a pressure problem in the boiler!

Yep...easiest wat to correct it is to solder on a 15mm 45* street elbow. Depends how close to the wall it is though.
