Hi. I have a section of wall that I need to skim now but the wall will be extended at a later date to tie in with the rest of the hallway. How do I deal with this? Was thinking of skimming up to a stop bead now then when the rest of the wall is there skimming up to the other side of the stop bead. If it is visible I can tape over and feather out the joint.

Is this the best way to do it or is there another? I know it would be best to wait and skim th entire wall in one hit but this isn't an option

Thanks so you reckon just plaster to the stop bead now then up to the other side at a later date?

With a few coats of paint you will probably not notice the bead afterwards.

don’t set the bead at the wall edge.
set it back a few inches so you can tie in and tape the join later.

Thanks Benny. Did as you said and it has come out a treat and looks like the balance of the wall will tie in nicely.

Cheers.
