Hi,

I have 800mm thick 20mm to dust hardcore laid in my back garden inside a new 6000mmx3000mm patio thats being built.

The builder has left me in the lurch and i want to get it finished myself as winter is approaching and he is taking forever.

My question is:

Would a whacker plate compact this thickness of aggregate enough to allow me to prepare it for block paving?

I'm aware grit sand is needed for the blocks, but i'm a little worried a whacker plate wont compact 800mm enough.

Any help appreciated. ;)

800mm to compact is a lot in one go. I`m assuming its already down?

i`d hope the contrator has compacted it in approx 100-200mm layers.

It is practically impossible to compact 800mm of stone with a wacker. You would struggle with an 8 tonne vibrating sit-on roller!

Abso no chance of whacking that depth in one hit. 150 layers, compact, lay next thickness, onwards and upwards.

Ooi, why so deep??
