i have a 20mm olive which fits on to a old water pipe,

can i use this along with a 22mm straight compression fitting with ptfe tape to make a lasting watertight seal and join up the pipework to enable me to continue with modern metric copper pipe

its possible to use 3/4 olive in a 22 compression fitting....this is more likely your scenario...i've not come across 20mm pipework..(i think anyway)

its probably 3/4 pipe and yes you can use a 3/4 olive and 22mm fitting

edit, I type slow

well im guessing its a 20 mm as ive tried a olive from a 22 mm fitting which was too big and a 18mm which was to small,

is it best best i ask for a 3/4 olive and try that
