Do any of you guys/gals know how to get a computer to control relays etc to switch on/off electrical equipment around the house, Or to input a signal into the computer when electrical contacts open/close, 
I used to do it years ago on the old "ZX Spectrum +2", But have no idea on modern computers
And maybe what sockets on the computer would be used for this application?
Any help (sites,hardware,software,links etc) would be great
