Concealed shower valve

Hi.

I am fitting a concealed shower vale, but need to know what fitting I should get.

Both of the hot and cold inlets have a white plastic fitting inside that pushes in and out on a spring. There is a retaining clip holding this part in place.

The problem is that with this fitted I cannot get a seal with a fitting as the part is almost flush with the end.

If I take them out the shower doesn't work. It looks as if they should be pushed in further so I can then get a fitting on the thread with a good seal.

Any ideas.

Sounds like your talking about the check valves.
What shower is it ?

Its from an online plumbing company.

Do these check valves need to be fitted. I've fitted a similar shower a few months back and it didn't have these things fitted.

If it's fitted with them leave them in, It stops supplies backflowing.
There will be a way to fit the fittings If we know the shower make/model.

Sorry I don't know the make/model and it doesn't state it anywhere.

From the look at a normal tap connector, it seems that the part where the washer fits around is to long and is not sliding inside enough for the washer to create a seal.

Are there fittings that can be used instead of a standard tap connector.

No, there weren't any instructions.

It is getting frustrating buying things online, you can never get things that fit/work perfectly without having to improvise in some way.

On another shower valve I fitted the thread of the temperature control was long enough to pass through 12.5mm plasterboard and 10mm of tile, but as you can see in the image I've had to remove the plasterboard because it wouldn't fit through with enough thread on the other side. It's a complete mess because I can hardly move where it is being fitted.

I decided to use speedfit because I had a plasterer doing work whilst I was away and he forgot to leave an area for me to work on, so it is a very tight space.

I had used 3 speedfit fittings, but the one had completely chewed up on the end, so I changed it for a brass tap connector.
