Hi
We have a doorway opening of 1.9m into our conservatory. Over this opening the plaster has come away, on investigation I have found that there are 2 timber lintels of 125mm in height and length of 2.5m. Above these timbers is 2 courses of brickwork then the roof plates and the flat roof joists. I have been told that I could get a plasterer to cover them in expanding metal and plaster them. I would happier if I could replace these timbers as they are bowed . As there is not much weight above them, could I use 2 concrete lintels of 2.5m on the inner and outer walls of the cavity wall or should I use a steel catnic wide enough to bridge the cavity but still keeping the 2.5m length.
