Hi, I am in the process of laying an Oak hardwood floor and a small square of the area(about 4ft square) is concrete. It is not in contact with the ground in any way (house is above a cellar). Can I glue the wood directly to the concrete and is so what glue should I use??

Ok, thanks for that. do you intend to glue the wood onto the floorboards too or install floating, secretly nailing?

I plan to secret nail the flooring on top of the floorboards, they are level and in good condition.

It's best to use one method throughout the project. I suggest you install some thin hardboard over the concrete area and try to overlap that area as best as possible.
You can't nail into concrete though.

Jud - consider installing a batten in the centre of the concrete pad to provide a nailing position. Methods: angle grind/chisel/bolster out 50mm wide x 25mm deep groove in concrete, fix batten. Or, pneumatic chisel the groove out (take 30mins). Or, chisel in a stopped SDS Plus drill (30mins).

thanks for tips. I have bought special flexi grip glue from flooring company and appears to have worked a treat but many thanks anyway!!!
