condensing boiler

i had british gas round yesterday and they quoted me 3800 for a new boiler. they said i have to have a new condensing boiler due to new regulations , now i really cant afford this and i was thinking of doing a DIY install. but i dont know where to start really. to save money could i just put a normal combi in?

. Just get some quotes from corgi reg. htg. engineers. ANY one can undercut BG.

Boiler cost to BG bulk buying circa.£800.....
