hi guys

my daughter recently moved house and the is a bad stench coming fromt eh condenser waste pipe to the boiler, the pipe is connected in straight sections(no traps) direct to drain outside.

should the waste pipe have a trap of some sorts to prevent foul odours from drain beign emitted into the house and would a trap of some sort cause water to stagnate int he trap and again cause similar problem

thanks for all help

I have been reading up a lot about these and as I understand no trap is required in normal cases.

If you follow the run of the pipe are there any dips in it where the condensed water can lie and then end up smelling ?

If possible another option is to route the condensate pipe into an existing internal waste pipe.

Regards

Jerry
