Hello.

Straight to the point. I've moved into a new property and above the comboi it seems the power electric cable has been cut.

How do I connect these bak together? What type of connector do I need to use. The wire is grey and has 3 copper cables inside see attachéd picture link.

Are those two cables actually from the same piece of cable?

Are they the same size? One looks bigger than the other.

It seems to me someone has 'first-fixed' a cable in the wall. Then it's been plastered. But np one's 'second-fixed' (connected up).

Far more info required before anyone can give suitable advice...

I think you are wrong, based on the picture.

1 cable seems to be in a metal backbox, that has been partially plastered over. This could be a boiler power supply?

The other cable could be anything, possibly the tail end of a thermostat cable?

Can you take a more distant photo to help identify the possible purposes of the cables.

I don't advise connecting them until you are sure.

Yes it's the same cable. I'm not sure if the plasterer cut it to do the plastering or if it was cut before.

It looks like one is bigger due to the camera angle. But these wires are part of the same thing. I must apologise for my lack of knowledge. But the cable went goes into the metal box the plasterer has plastered over part of this.
The boiler does not switch on so am I right in assuming this is the power cable to it?

Are you sure the cable has not been cut to prevent the usage of an unsafe gas appliance, in your case the boiler.

Ok so I took a better picture. However it's on its side. This is the top of the boiler. It seem like the wire just goes into the wall it does seem to connect into the boiler? Like a loop of wire?

Before connecting any cables, do the required tests to prove it is safe to do so and also confirm the two cables belong to each other.

It could well have been cut before I got the house. It was a purchase from auction. It did have a sticker on the boiler and radiators saying the system had been drained etc. I just wanted to power it up to see if it's working then obviously get the required people in to do all the safety checks and certs.

That's the wrong way round, get a competent electrician to test the circuit before it is powered up.
That is the best advise you are going to get, regarding this issue.

Great! Thanks for informing me it's not really a newbie job. I don't fancy getting another electric shock. I will leave it to the pro's.
