I have a bath tap that has a 1/2" female connection on the bottom and I would like to attach it via a 900mm flexi pipe and maybe also an isolating value (just incase I need to get the bath out in future).

My current plan is to get the following:

- YORKSHIRE SOLDER COPPER FITTINGS 15MM MALE IRON:

- Flexi Tap Conn 15mm x 1/2" x 900mm 13mm bore:

- Isolating Valve 15mm
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100121&ts=26230&id=67670

anyone got any thoughts as to the best way to connect this all up and also the best ways of going 1/2" BSP male to 1/2" BSP female connections

thanks!

I don't understand that.

You can get a flexible tap connector wihich screws onto the tap at one end, has a compression fiting for copper pipe at the other, and has a service valve built in.

Bath taps are usually 3/4" BSP and bath pipes are usualy 22mm.

However if you have mains-pressure water half inch and 15mm will just about do. The bath will take longer to fill with a 1/2" basin tap. the isolating valve also constricts flow.

It's a female BSP tap tail John.

I'd use either:

1. A nipple;
or, and more probably,
2. A Hepworth HX31/22 adaptor, and push Hep2o (or copper) pipe into that.

I have a hatred of braided flexible pipes - mostly a personal thing, but they have the least longevity of all the options.

Edit: er, sorry - I meant HX31, not HX29.

Cheers guys - in the end I just purchased one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=180101829709&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008

and then I am going to connect the end of the nipple to the 1/2" BSP on the flexi pipe.

Can anyone else backup this comment about flexi pipes:

I also have a personal hatred but mine is for push fit fittings as the way I look at it is, if you have a problem (and they disconnect compeletely) you have a REAL problem. Not something you want to have happen half way though a two week holiday (while your away!).

I like the flexible connectors as they make it so easy. However almost all mine are on low-pressure tank-fed supplies, and not being a plumber, I have no experience of going to houses where one has failed.

I formerly used those convoluted copper formable pipes, but found then more difficult to fit.

thanks for your info - The one I have used above is rated at "15bar working pressure" so I guess i'll be ok.
