connecting plastic to cast iron stack

They I wanting to renew my cast iron stack in plastic from the first socket on it. I wonderd if I could put 4inch plastic pipe into the top of the cast iron socket then put plumbers mate around this will this seal ok. Thanks for any suggestions
 
Don't think there is an approved way of doing this. Have used some hempwhich I have tamped into the socket and then finished with an external black mastic sealant.

Am now waiting to be shot down in flames...
 
mmm... "hempwhiches". Bit like space-cakes and disco-biscuits.
 
As far as I know... At least until I was around the corner anyway
