Hi there,

I currently have a series of mains voltage lighting bollards on my patio. Inside the bollards are 3-entry JB’s, fitted with chocolate blocks and duly filled with a waterproofing compound. The lights are wired in parallel.

I’d like to add a couple of bollards. Power supply will be laid in non-SWA cable, run in conduit.

I’d appreciate advice if there is a simpler method of creating the spur than JB’s, glanding, compound while maintaining the parallel power supply arrangement. Perhaps something like a gel-filled Scotchlok product?

Thanks

A cable run underground needs to be in a earthed metallic sheath hence SWA is the usual choice.
Sounds like it is already done in a normal fashion, I take it the existing cable is SWA?
The work will be notifiable under part p.

As he said ^^^

There isn't really anything which is a 'simpler' method and still compliant. The only choices other than SWA are MICC or a proper continuous conduit system, which are both i) not really accessible to the DIYer, ii) More labour intensive.

There isn't much thats difficult with trouser boxes, gaskets, compound and CW glands. And its the standard way of doing it.
