How easy or straightforward is it to convert a conservatory to a proper brick built extension?

Thanks in advance

Easy as long as those who put the foundations in did it as they would a Building Regulations extension.
Most connie installers don’t.

Thanks for the super fast response. What’s the approximate cost for a 4 by 3 metre conversion?

Thanks again

Thank you for your help.

We are moving into a 4 bed detached later this month and we are probably going to be doing some building work. The obvious one is a garage conversion which we have done before and is quite straightforward. We are also toying with the idea of a side extension, kitchen extension or making the conservatory into a dining room and then knocking the present 3 by 3 metre kitchen which is a bit small and the present dining room into one.

Thanks again.

sorry to hijack, but would the foundations have to have been inspected by BC at the time the conny was built?

the previous owners to our place said ‘proper’ foundations were put in, but there’s no bc documentation. Having dug a hole, the concrete is 75cm to 25cm below ground level and the walls are breezeblock with a cavity… might they be compliant?

You can put proper foundations in at say 200, 500 or 1000mm deep.

The question is, whether they are suitable foundations.

Seems sensible. So we would need an inspection by bc before a decision is made to reuse or replace for the new extension?

These foundations seem a lot more robust than the joking footings on the conservatory in our previous place.
