We've just had a conservatory built and have concerns about the glass roof. For about an hour in the morning and evening as it warms and cools the creaks and bangs it makes seem to be unacceptably loud. The roof glass panels are just over 3m long supported on glazing bars. the glazing company say this is normal yet the manufacturer of the glazing bars says they've never heard of the problem. We don't know where to go with this, any similar problems out there.

It should only be the plastics that contract and expand they cover the aluminium glazing bars.
Also the glass in your roof should be toughened, laminated both, so you shouldn’t be concerned about falling glass.

hiya, its quite normal for expansion and contraction of a pvc-u frame to produce 'clicks' or other similar noises. The problem is actually worse with polycarbonate roofs so a glass roof is a good choice. What colour is the conservatory?, the darker woodgrain buildings do expand and contract more than the white models and hence can be somewhat noisier as the weather warms and then cools down.

Don't know much about them but we had a glass roofed conservatory in oak colour fitted 4 years ago and it has never made a noise, regardless of heat, since fitting.
