Hi - recently joined in the hope someone can help me with my conservatory.
Recently moved to a new house. Guttering goes around the conservatory which is quite big - it's 5 metres wide and goes the whole width of the house. Comes out about 2 metres. On one side the gutter has a downpipe that goes quite deep and joins up with the surface water drainage, On the other side, it's the same set up but the downpipe only goes about a foot into the ground and that's it - no drainage, no soakaway, so all the rainwater is just pouring into the ground. We were getting loads of woodlice in the house and particularly the conservatory, and I wondered if the damp ground was attracting them.
Anyway I've removed the downpipe and just want to cap off the hole in the gutter, and let alll the rainwater drain to the other downpipe instead. However, I'm really struggling to find how to do this. The gutter seems to be a particular shape - the closest I can find is something called Marley and pieces sell online for a fortune. I thought about buying a union joint to replace the piece but apparently it measures 100mm and the gap when the outlet piece is removed is more like 110mm. My missus won't let me cover the hole up unless it blends in (I suggested a jam jar lid with some sealant but she wasn't having it!).
Any suggestions about how to get round this? Obvious solution is to get a length of gutter and then just cut a piece to go in but the only places I can find are online and charge even more than the joins and outlets - e.g. here it's over £90! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35285058...BJ16AQH0AS2F&hash=item522788ad42&LH_Auction=1
