Consistancy of powdered adhesive

I mixed a bucket of standard set powdered adhesive at 9am this morning and found that the leftover in the bucket was the same consistency 4hrs later.

Would you expect it to have started to harden and go thicker after 4hrs?

Maybe I didn't mix it thick enough but would you expect that to be a problem once it has set?

As a sanity check I've stuck a tile to a spare piece of plasterboard which I'll try to remove later tonight.

I very rarely use standard set but when I have you can still adjust tiles that were fitted in the morning at 3 in the afternoon.
Next day they were rock solid.

I wouldn't worry,when mixing just get it thick enough to maintain its shape when troweled.

we've found the cold temperature at the mo delayed our grout from setting as fast as it should. A heater in the room made a huge difference (as theres no central heating in the area yet)
