Hello,
We have decided to replace the fireplace as the existing one is fairly dated, after taking the old gas fire off I lifted the surrounding floorboards..

The fire place we are looking at comes with these requirements;

Point F - Non combustible hearth - Does this mean I can put a 50mm deep slate/granite hearth straight onto my timber floorboards, or do I need to create (add to) a constructional hearth to sit the decorative hearth on?

thanks, - W

Your slate/tiles are OK. Its so that if a burning coal falls of the fire it cannot set fire to the carpet/floorboards.
