hi i need some help im putting rcd in for a shower but the consumer unit does not have enought fuse slots on so how do i go about wiring the rcd straight in as there are not a live terminal for the rcd thanks
A spark would provide a stand alone RCD or RCBO on a mini enclosure and then run tails and earth as a new service to the suppliers henley box.
If there's not a henley box the tails from the meter to the CU would be put on a henley and from there you would extend new tails for both the shower and house CU's.
It's not a DIY job.
If you plan to get someone in then why not consider getting a decent new CU and then not only could you offer RCD or RCBO protection for the shower. You could move over existing circuits that could be considered sensible to be given better protection. Shed, kitchen ring, garage, down stairs ring circuits being the circuits to add on.
