My mum has a Telecare system which monitors water/smoke/gas etc. Unfortunately, she doesn't like leaving things plugged in overnight and insits in unplugging it. As she has Alzheimers she forgets the importance of the unit.

I want to convert the existing double-gang 13A sockets to a single gang fused un-switched connection unit.

At the moment, I am thinking of using a double-gang blanking plate with a cutout to enble me to have the flush single-gang mounted on it. The spur would be nut-bolted and glued to the blanking plate to ensure it is secure.
Is this ok? Is there a better way

Are you sure the Telecare unit does not have a wall wart transformer?

This would mean you cannot cut it off and hardwire it into a spur.

If it is a wall wart transformer, perhaps it and a socket can be fitted in a plastic enclosure.
