We are doing a loft conversion at the mo and I need to deal with the plumbing, house is about 2 years old.

CH is currently open vented and the fe tank needs to be removed/moved, it cannot be put up high, so will need to be floor level.

We want to fit 2 rads, ideally the best way forward is to convert to a sealed system.

I can't see a problem here, I can fit an expansion vessel and PRV, filling loop etc in the airing cupboard on the 1st floor for example, trouble with this is the airing cupboard is in the middle of the house and need to run the vent for the PRV.

Can the PRV and expansion vessel be anywhere on the system? Ie in a new cupboard on the attic level on the new leg of the heating circuit?

Otherwise I will have to leave the system as is, move the tank and install electric heating.

Thanks in advance.

You can fit a remote prv, think its gotta be 21/2 bar though (not a hundred percent certain so get boiler makers approval) fit this anywhere on the system, preferably near an outside wall for ease of fitting. Expansion vessel can go anywhere on system but no valves in between it and system.

Thanks.

Never heard of a 2.5 bar PRV.

As regards the PRV and valves, does that include zone valves?

How far can the dump pipe be run from the PRV and can it go up hill? I.e up into the ceiling void and out the wall?

I think Gigz is refering to putting a boilers PRV into the system & then using a remote PRV.If your coverting to a sealed system the PRV can go anywhere, but your boiler MUST be suitable for going on a sealed system,ie have an overheat thermostat.

Thanks, I'm sure the boiler will be as they use them all over the estate, some are sealed. On the sealed system boilers, the vent pipes are plumbed in when the house is built.

So I could extend the heating circuit up to the attic as normal, run a leg into a cupboard or something, run the prv of this and vent on an outside wall?

It will be very high up on a white rendered wall, so was thinking of using one of those prv vent terminals?

What about the expansion vessel? Does this have to go before any zone valves?
