According to the AEG website this has a connected load of 6.9kW (and a fuse rating of 30 amps).

6mm cable has a nominal current rating of 40 amps.

You do not say how long the cable is, and how it is installed.
 
its running straight from a new fuse board 40a for 3m to the switch and then a futher 1m to the cooker connection socket hope that helps

In that case, 6mm sounds fine; have a look at the similar topics at the foot of this page especially this one which is helpful. You can swap the 40 amp fuse for a 30 amp (or 32 amp mcb).
