I have read through a number of the discussions about the correct size cable for cookers and realise it is a bit complex. My situation is this; the total run will be approx 16mtrs. 2mtrs of which will be behind plasterboard (dry lined). The cable will run from the front of my terraced house to the extension at the back. The ground floor is concrete and so I intend to run the cable under the upstairs floorboards. I don't have the oven yet, but I intend to install a standard built under single oven with a max rating of 7kW. Will I be OK with 6mm T&E connected to a 32amp MCB.

Sounds good to me, in terms of cable protection and voltage drop.

Most single ovens are 3kW or less, and plug into a 13A socket.[/quote]

Does this mean you could plug into a standard 2.5mm ring??? or am I showing my stupidity.

Yes that's right, a single oven you can just plug it into a normal socket, like you do with your kettle, which is quite possibly a similar wattage. Make sure you use a suitable cable from the oven to the plug though, heat resistant. The pro's on here will be able tell you about that.
