Does anyone know if there is available a cooker hood supplied with a humidistat switch or if it’s possible to fit one. IE the extractor switches on automatically according to room humidity ?
I have offered work to electricians on a trades website and not received offers

You could fit yourself.
Just unplug extractor and fit https://amzn.eu/d/4EBBLe1

I don't know how you would override it and if it would come on when you want it to. Humidity is not the same as cooking fumes

Why do you want it?

Is it for use when cooking?

Or for something else?

The problem with a humidistat is how powerful is the extractor fan to be controlled? If it's not a powerful one, it could be running for hours before it lowered the humidity to the desired setting, and then of course how accurate will the differential be; many factors to be considered.

Thanks
I asked an electrician about this and he said none of his colleagues had heard of it. He was concerned about breaking warranty.
Overriding is part of the issue as the installed fans generally have 2 more switches with increasing speeds.

Sadly I need it because the tenant try’s to save pennies by not using bathroom fan, causing damp.
The kitchen had not required extraction for previous tenants as they opened window and used conventional cooking methods.
I have paid for roof vent and fused switch to be installed and now would like a hood which removes any damp in the kitchen automatically, as explained to previous responder one electrician isn’t confident and trusted trades aren’t replying.
Yes it’s to be used when cooking and I’m not confident the tenant will use it adequately, or to remove residual damp automatically.
I am prepared to pay for a ‘quality ‘ cooker hood.
I have also advertised for an electrician to fit a humidistat to the bathroom fan, but no luck yet.
Thanks for your interest
As mentioned before I’m not sure if an additional humidistat will interfere with second and third speed switches when activated manually

Tough call.

Some tenants will assume that letting moist air out will make the property colder and accordingly turn off the device at the switch.

I am not an electrician, but in your situation, I would be tempted to hide, or not use an obvious isolator.

That is easy - you can buy bathroom fans, which include run on timers, humidity stats, and pir sensors. The timer keeps the fan running for a set period once triggered, trigger can be humidity, or someone simply walking into the room, or both.

A humidity sensor for a cooker hood, really has little point. In the circumstances you mention, I would be tempted to remove, or bypass the speed controls, and have the cooker hood triggered to on, by a PIR - making the assumption that the occupant, would be in the range of a PIR, when cooking. As above, hide the means of isolating the fan.

If it is an electric hob/oven, then connect the fan to the isolator, so it comes on when ever either the hob or oven are switched on.

So thanks for this guys
you have confirmed that attaching a humidistat to bathroom extractor fan is feasible and cooker hood is not.
A new hood can be easily fitted as I have paid for a fused switch and roof vent to prepare for the installation. Hopefully the tenant will comply.
An electrician is required to fit humidistat to Bathroom fan

Best you buy a fan with a humidstat fitted already but I warn you that they are very tricky to set up

Agree, if the fan is triggered by humidity then the levels have to be quite high before it’s triggered , which is too late , the fan needs to run immediately to prevent humidity level raising at all.
Occupancy sensor far more effective .

Then you get into the “noisy fan when I pee in the night” problem.

I’ve always fancied the idea of the fan turning on when the shower is turned on. In fact I thought of this just recently when I spotted a line in the instructions for my new electric shower specifically saying NOT to connect wires for fans to the shower innards.

Modern fans such as Soler & Palau or Envirovent, with ball-bearing motors and rubber mounts, are so quiet that you will not hear them with the door closed. They are certainly quieter than a flushing WC or a running tap.

Never found it a problem myself , fan is quiet .
