Yes it can be updated! It would be better chased in first and perhaps recessed too

You may as we’ll stick with the old one. even a sleek new one is still going to look cack with a lump of 16x25 plastic trunking sticking out of the bottom.

As tiles and wallpaper have already been ripped from the wall, there really is no better time to recess the box and cables.
Or perhaps relocate it to somewhere more suitable.

That's the big style old one on the big pattress. I hate surface stuff and the trunking. I agree the slimmer one although it will be clean and newer will still look crap surface mounted.
