Are there any guidelines for the proximity of a cooker switch to a gas hob? I know it shouldn't be behind the hob and that sockets should be 300mm form the hob edge. Not sure about the cooker switch though. I'd like to put it about 200mm from one edge but can easily put it at 300mm if that's required. Steve.

Steve, I'd say 300mm would be better but a pro may be able to tell you if 200mm is acceptable.

What you're trying to achieve, is that no-one has to lean over the hob to turn it off, for example in the event of a chip-pan fire.

But it must be with 2m, again so that you can easily see it in such an emergency, and know what it's for.
