HI

Have a socket near to my cooker with just a switch on it, no socket, I have gone to local DIY store and bought one with a socket, after removing the socket the wires are not the same as for the socket and am confused as to what goes where??

Brown and red in the single switch only is in the neutral, but on the switch and socket it is saying it should be in the live, is that where I put it

Black wire is in the live at the moment, and the black wire should be in the neutral of the new one so it is saying

Is it ok to swop it over as it says in the diagram??

Any help greatly appreciated

Your switch without socket has been turned sideways thats why the connections look different turn it vertical and look at the connection markings again

Did you apply for Building Regulations approval before you did that?

1) Can't see any brown cores in the photo.

2) What are the terminals of the existing switch actually labelled, and what's in each one?

Look which cable goes to the connection plate and they go red/brown to live out or load L and black/brown goes to n out or load n.
the other cable goes red to L in or L feed and black to N in or N feed.
