plastic easy to fit and cheaper (only pros), copper takes longer to install and more expensive (only cons) I never fit plastic, NEVER, well once or twice as there was no way of getting copper in without destroying house and customer didn't want to pay the more expensive bill,
IF YOU CAN, FIT COPPER
During this years cold spell, all of my call-outs were to burst copper pipes.
That said, there is far, far more copper pipe about than plastic and in all but one call out the problem was probably caused by lack of adequate insulation on the pipes.
Where I attend leaks other than burst pipes, it is often down to plastic joints failing rather than a pipe problem.
Have never used plastic but if I ever have to, I might be tempted to use copper joints, (compression fittings) nipped a bit tighter than normal.
