correct sandpaper grit to use on walls

Ive just painted my bathroom and one wall is all patchy, so i plan to sand it back and repaint it...what sandpaper grit should i use for this? I just want to smooth it back slightly.

Try a light sand with 120 and then another with 240.

Just what I'd do, not necessarily what a pro P&D would do.
