Corrugated concrete roofing screw rubber seals

Hi,

Am having to replace the nails and old style black spat washers as they are worn out.

Have got the more modern black cup shaped M6 x28mm ones with screws but after cleaning the area around the screw hole, is it worthwhile to prime the area with pva or flashband primer; would it improve the seal ?

Thanks, just started replacing them today, though not all of the twisted nails would come out in one piece.

Wonder if you saw my other roofing problem / post from last weekend about a suitable primer for butyl flashing and had any suggestions, eg PVA or SBR or again if just cleaning the surface is all thats needed ?
Have since been looking at the Soudal ButyBand which gets some good reviews and is classed as very sticky.

I would try bitumen paint it makes a good primer
for flashband and the like.
