CORSA 1.2 2002 IGNITION PROBLEM

Hi, can anyonone help me please. Got the above car and an intermitent problem with ignition. Has been fine for 11 months but gone again today. Went to start engine and no fuel gauge lifting, no mileage lights working but the engine fires and turns for a few seconds then stops. No garages or dealer could find the problem last time and just put itself right.

check wiring from below bonnect to catchment area, is it possible that condensation on damaged wiring is the cause???
by driving it to a garage any condesation may have steamed off condensation if cable fitting ects.

garage would not be able to find it unless it happens to them coz the fualt isnt totally apparent.

what you can do is work out when its most likely to occur ie when its been raining driven in rain etc overnight after usage and so on.

ok we know the fuel gauge goes down so with simple electrical tester trace and locate the relevent wire and plug ect test it on hms zero reading from unit faulty whilst your at it check the plug for any signs of water penetrations.

if you feel this may then be the problem start checking everything else that is affected including your ht leads etc.

Left the car for about 2 hrs went back to it and it started first time.
Drove home left it for half hour same thing .will check what you suggested.

ive suggested, basic simple electrical testing however all symptons indicate that its within one area causing multi problems....ie water/damp circuit for the ecu or computer unit etc, why im thinking water is current weather conditions in the uk and cars being cars beakdown when water gets on the electrics mate.

as said in first post it happend 11 months ago ,same symptons exactly.the weather was very hot .it sorted itself out and went to dealers but like any inttermitent fault could not be found.
will take it to auto electrician tomorrow if it starts!!!
