OK so I have managed to lay oak strip (solid) flooring downstairs and in bedrooms. The chipboard flooring on landing has gaps but is generally level. I want to cover landing and stair treads with the left over strip flooring (my dear departed husband overbought everything and I have more than enough left). GThis stuff is solid oak T&G. Can I just cut, glue and nail it in place to cover stair treads? I was thinking I could just plane/sand the planks and bulnose to a smooth fit and paint the risers. Views, suggestions and help welcome as I really don't want carpet (3 kids, 2 dogs and 4 cats make that a bad move)!
