Hi

I have house and every ceiling is artex. It's was built in 1970 so probably does contain asbestos though I've not had it tested

What would be the best solution if I wanted it covering up and what would be the cheapest method? I've also got marks where covinf was stuck to the ceiling and the wall, so I guess that could be taken into consideration too

Thanks

A number of thoughts.

I know a friend who plastered over artex and the moisture meant the artex fell off, never happened to me.

Three ways that I use depending on what the ceiling looks like -

1) Mask up, scrape lumps off, PVA and multifinish 2 coats.

2) Mask up, scrape or not scrape lumps off, bonding and then multifinish 2 coats.

3) Mask up, scrape lumps off and multifinish 5 to 6 coats.
