Coving and LEDs

Hi all
I have this idea of putting up coving leaving a gap at the top and dropping a long led rope light in the top I have found some bits online but what I'm looking at looks like a special coving to take the lights
In the back of my mind I think I remember it being done with standard coving maybe on one of those old DIY/makeover programs ?
Has anyone any experience of doing this (if it's possible )
I was thinking maybe fixing a timber batten round the room first to fix the top edge to ?
