Coving disaster

Hi

Completely out of the blue a long section of coving just fell in our dining room. No damge done but the glue and plaster residue left on wall and celing looks very messy.

Do I just have to scrape/chip off or is there some sort of proprietory cleaner I can use?

Just scrape off, re-fix with coving adhesive and support with temporary pins if necessary.
It usually falls off after a few months when it has been applied to plaster that had not fully dried or the adhesive was too thin. Could either be the case with yours?

Coving has been up for at least 13 years when we moved in!!

Hmmm, not wet plaster then!

Perhaps a bit of recent house-bashing loosened it.
