Hi - gonna put coving up on freshly skimmed walls/ceilings. Just wondering if its best to stick straight on wall, paint under first with watered down matt emulsion or bond with 5:1 water/pva mixture or any other ideas. Cheers.

NEVER put PVA over new plaster 
. I`d be inclined to give a real thinned coat of emul. then stick the cove with Artex - mixed up as thick as you find works well .Where you prime the wall, keep a random edge - not a straight line that may show through next coats
