Hi all,

I've just noticed that my Myson Compact CP63 seems to be stay on all the time.

Is this normal (and I've only just noticed because it is making noise and needs bleeding) or has something gone wrong?

Any help would be appreciated!

Lets say its not usual!

But its quite possible thats how your system is configured.

As you have given no details of your system or boiler then we cannot make any guesses at all.

The boiler is a Potterton Profile. There is a programmer and a room thermostat, plus there is also a cold weather over-run thermostat. All those seem to be working ok.
The only problem is that the pump is now on all the time.

I have also noticed that from time to time the boiler fires up by itself! It burns gas for a few minutes but does not seem to provide any heating, nor does it seem to be heating up the hot water. Am not sure whether the two problems are linked, i.e. one causing the other?

could be your "cold weather over-run stat", which I presume is what is generally known as a frost stat, not switching off.

At this time of year it is probably not your frost stat. More than likely one of the micro switches sticking in a motorised valve , giving power to pump and boiler but valve not actually open so heat just circulates around the bypas

good call namsag, think the terminology, cold weather over-run thermostat, confused me
