I’ve got some straight line ceiling cracks in an old bungalow.
They aren’t too bad but they’re unsightly and look to have been previously repaired.
I’ve scraped them out into a ‘V” and SBR’d the exposed edges.
Am I best to tape them (orange fibreglass tape) and then Easifil smooth.
Or could I use something like OB1 / CT1 to fill the “V” then fill smooth over top without tape.

Thanks D

If you scrape off a surface to create a channel about 1 or 2mm deep with a tungsten scraper. I use a 20mm wide one. You can fill the joints, then set a tape into the channel and then fill and stand over, and because the tape isn't on the surface you get no bump.

Seal as you said before you fill.
Cut tape to width to fit in channel.
Easy fill or toupret powdered filler is fine.

I like fiber fuse tape as it can be sanded without showing Vs mesh but either will do

Thanks @Wayners.
Oh I see - it’s the feathering of the tape bump that’s the tricky bit.
That’s a good idea the tape channel.

What do you think of the CT1 / OB1 and no tape idea ?

If you run mastic down and leave it then it will show.
Can't really blend in so it won't show if you look hard.
You would have to let it cure for a few day's before painting.
Not something I would do for a customer but a DIY person might.
Jmo.
Depends on skill level and effort you want to put in.
Up the You how you want to do it as you have options

Thanx again - as you said; I’ve got some options.
Appreciated.
