I am about to replace the carpet in my main bedroom. Before I do so I need to take a good look at what i can do to the flooring. To say it creaks is an understatement. You don't want to get out of bed to go to the loo causeyou'll wake the whole house.

The main problem seems to be in a section of the floor that has been cut at some stage to gain access to pipe work.

I have tried to screw this section down thinking that it may have been nails working themselves loose but his has not really helped.

Can anyone make any suggestions!

Would it help to remove the two cut sectyions of flooring and replace them with only one piece as was there before the floor was cut?

Thanks

Maybe replacing the section may help. Off the top of my head here are few ideas. You could try placing strips of cardboard on top of the joists and then screw the board back down. The cardboard will collapse and not add any height to the board.

If you can find what part of the board is rubbing against something you could rub a pencil on the board at that point, the lead will act as a dry lubricant.
