Hi

I've just started to have a side extension built. The ground floor front elevation was meant to have a window. I've decided I don't want that window and would prefer to have a garage door there. However this is purely for the look as I think it would make the extension look more natural/original.

But I don't actually want a working garage door and I want the space inside to be fully habitable and insulated.

So what I've thought is to have it fully bricked, then stick a timber frame on it and then attach a hinged timber door onto the frame.

Would this look ok or is there a better way to do it?

Thanks

You could have a garage that was only a couple of foot deep as useful storage?

If not just stick a wooden one straight onto the front of the brickwork, done well it should be pretty hard to tell it's fake - until someone tries to break in and finds a wall!

Thanks. Even if it were a couple of feet deep it would disrupt the way the extension marries up with the existing space inside.

I am planning to basically follow your second suggestion except just build a small frame around it.
